Credit on Dinner Accounts

Without a credit balance on your child’s dinner account, your child will not be able to have a meal in the Refectory.  In order to ensure your child has access to a meal at lunch, please ensure that you either

a) top up their dinner account using the online catering facilities or
b) give your child a packed lunch.

From September 2017, the meal price will be £2.30.

A totally cashless catering system

The Finance Office no longer accept cash for dinners.  Payment will need to be made via the online catering facility.   If you do not wish to make use of the online facility, please ensure your child has a packed lunch.

Before your child starts school, you should receive a letter with instructions how to set up an online account. Please click here for a guide offering more help.

If you would like assistance with your online account, please contact Mrs Roach in the Finance Office on 020 8529 1853 extn 265.

Breakfast Club – Year 7 pupils

In 2013, the Leader of Waltham Forest Council promoted within school an initiative to develop free breakfast for all Year 7’s. The aim of the provision was to ensure pupils have the best start possible in their new school and to establish good habits.

Chingford Foundation School took up this offer and now provide our Year 7 pupils access to this provision through the Breakfast Club.  Our Breakfast Club is operated from the Refectory each morning from 8:00am to 8:35am.

The breakfast offer consists of either:

  • A cooked breakfast up to the value of £1.00
  • A snack up to the value of 80p

Pupils can chose from the following selection:

Cooked Breakfast

  • Bacon rolls
  • Pancakes
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Hot Croissants
  • Hash Browns
  • Toast or Crumpets (made to order)
  • Full Monty (4 items from baked beans, hash browns, toast, bacon, sausages)

Snacks

  • Selection of cereal bars
  • Selection of 100% pure fruit juices (including apple and orange)
  • Snack pack cereal
  • Milk cartons
  • Crackers
  • Mini Baby Bels
  • Fruit pots
  • Water

Pupils can collect their snack from the Refectory each morning and have for breakfast or break.

Free School Meals

If your child is entitled to free school meals then their card will be charged to the value of a free school meal for each day. This means that no student will have to use a different system for free school meals and ensures that they do not feel that they are singled out when using our catering facilities.

Under government funding rules Chingford Foundation School will receive £935 additional funding for each child registered for Free School Meals, and we encourage all parents to claim if they think their child may be eligible. This will generate much needed revenue for the school and will be used to support your child’s education. Qualification criteria can be found at http://www.walthamforest.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals where you can also fill in an online application form. Please ring Ms Roach in the Finance office on extension 265 if you need assistance with applying for free school meals.

New Food Standards Information

The EU’s New Food Information Regulation (FIR) comes into force on 13 December 2014.
In June 2014 the school catering contractor, Wilsonjones Catering Limited, set up a working party to ensure that they are fully prepared for the new legislation and that the catering team at Chingford Foundation School is fully briefed on the implementation of the new regulations. They have also been working to ensure that the product labels on packaged items contain the relevant information.
