Chingford Foundation School

Instrumental Music Lessons

At Chingford Foundation School, we are proud to offer instrumental music lessons to students who wish to learn an instrument or continue their musical journey. Learning an instrument develops confidence, creativity and focus while providing an opportunity to perform and collaborate with others.

Lesson Information

  • Lessons are available on most orchestral instruments as well as piano, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, drum kit and voice.

  • Each student receives 10 individual lessons per term (30 lessons across the academic year).

  • Lessons are 30 minutes long and take place during the school day on a rota basis, or at a fixed time before or after school.

  • Lesson timetables are displayed on the noticeboard outside the Music Department.

  • It is each student’s responsibility to check and attend lessons on time.

  • All lessons take place in the school’s practice rooms.

  • Individual lessons in music theory, composition and song writing are also available.

Tuition Fees and Payment

Lesson Type

Duration

Fee (2025-2026)
Individual Lesson Set  10 x 30-minute lessons per term  £225.00
Please complete the form if you wish to apply for music lessons for your child. Your details will then be passed on the suitable visiting peripatetic teacher, who will contact you if there is a space to begin lessons. Prompt payment will be required to ensure that your child will be kept on the register. Submission of the lesson application form constitutes a firm booking for lessons. Upon receipt of the form, the student will be allocated a lesson time. Once scheduled and contacted, lessons will continue for a term and pupils may not be withdrawn from lessons, and the full fees for that period will remain payable, even if the student ceases to attend. Requests to discontinue lessons can only take effect from the start of the next term. This ensures stability in teacher timetabling and fairness for both the student and teacher. Any questions please contact music@chingfordacademiestrust.org.uk
  • Fees are paid directly to tutors by bank transfer.

  • Parents and carers will be invoiced by the instrumental tutor.

  • Fees must be paid before the first lesson of each term.

  • One term’s written notice must be given to the Executive Director of Music and Performing Arts if a student wishes to stop lessons.

  • If notice is not received, one term’s fees are payable in lieu.

  • Lessons automatically continue from one academic year to the next unless notice is given at the end of the summer term.

Missed Lessons and Cancellations

  • Any lesson cancelled by the teacher will be rearranged.

  • Lessons missed by students without at least 24 hours’ notice will not be rescheduled.

  • Absences due to trips, sports events or exams are not refundable.

  • In cases of illness, lessons will be rearranged if the school office and tutor are informed by 8.30 am on the day of absence.

Communication and Progress

Parents and carers are encouraged to provide a small notebook to help communication between home and the instrumental tutor.
Tutors will use this to record progress, set practice goals and share updates on upcoming performances.

Financial Support

If the cost of lessons is a barrier, please contact the finance teams in the school as they may have support options available
