CFS Music Updates

A Year of Outstanding Musical Achievement
It has been a busy and successful term for the Music Department. Students have taken part in performances, workshops and world-class concerts, showing real commitment and talent both in and beyond the classroom. Here are some of the highlights.
Odyssey Festival Orchestra at Cadogan Hall
Students attended an evening concert at Cadogan Hall, featuring Mahler's Symphony No. 4 and Sibelius' Symphony No. 7. They were interviewed about their views on classical music and their expectations before and after the concert, giving great insight into careers across the music industry, from performing to education.
ABBA Voyage
Sixty-six students enjoyed ABBA Voyage, the concert combining live music with digital "ABBAtars". Feedback was glowing: Iulia Maria Barcan (Year 7): "The holograms looked really realistic and I loved it." Paul Spearman (Year 9): "Amazing. Very good lighting and music. 12/10." Denzel Sampa Lopes Da Rosa (Year 9): "I'm definitely going to go into musical theatre." Lily Krokou (Year 9): "It was really special to see two of the original members there with us." Summer Phillips Frost (Year 12): "This was my fourth time seeing it and I would see it again."
Choir Workshop with the London Community Gospel Choir
Our school choir worked alongside singers from the London Community Gospel Choir, developing vocal technique and confidence while learning gospel repertoire, accompanied by a professional accompanist.
Symphonic Rock at the Royal Albert Hall
16 students from CFS, part of a group of 58 from across both schools, saw the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra perform Symphonic Rock to a sold out audience, including orchestral versions of hits by Coldplay, AC/DC, Bon Jovi and Electric Light Orchestra.
Royal Academy of Music Summer School
Congratulations to Kian Iraji (Year 8), and Kayla Alborough and Eliza Casey (Year 9), all offered places on the Royal Academy of Music's Springboard to Grade 5 Theory and Beyond summer course, one of the world's most prestigious conservatoires.
Battle of the Bands
Students represented the school at the Battle of the Bands at Leyton Sixth Form College. Ryan Torgbo (Year 9) was singled out by judge and renowned drummer Richard Spaven as "an incredibly talented young drummer." Well done to Iris, Ivy, Kehanique, Erika, Rosie, Lily, James and Ryan.
Summer Concert
Our annual Summer Concert showcased solos, duets, bands and the school choir, with students performing with confidence and skill in front of a full audience. Thank you to all the families and supporters who came along.
Congratulations to every student involved in what has been a truly memorable year for music at CFS.
