Futures Ambition Day Supports Students from Year 7 to Sixth Form

Futures Ambition Day 2026

On Friday 23 January 2026, the Careers Department at Chingford Foundation School delivered a whole-school Futures Ambition Day, supporting students from Year 7 to Year 13 with inspiring, hands-on careers education and skills development.

The day brought together 55 external guests, including parents, employers, universities, further education and sixth form colleges. Together, they contributed to a rich programme of workshops, assemblies and interactive sessions designed to help students explore future pathways and develop key employability skills.

Every year group benefited from assemblies delivered by external providers, in line with Access Provider legislation, ensuring students received impartial and meaningful guidance about post-16 and post-18 options.

Highlights from Futures & Ambition Day included:

  • Student prefects taking part in a leadership training session, developing management skills and confidence

  • A mini careers fair for Years 11–13, enabling students to meet employers, training providers and universities

  • Team-building challenges focused on communication, collaboration and leadership

  • Targeted workshops, including first aid for Year 8, enterprise and business challenges for Year 10, and sessions on real estate and effective communication for Year 11

  • Practical guidance on application forms and interview preparation for post-16 progression

  • Financial education sessions for all year groups, delivered by HMRC, HSBC, the Personal Finance Society and London Metropolitan University

  • Careers insight and advice from the Department for Work and Pensions

Sixth Form students benefited from talks with a wide range of professionals, including a CEO, lawyer, economist, financial adviser, engineer, technology and project managers, media professionals and a construction manager from Transport for London.

Year 12 students also heard from a former student about applying for degree apprenticeships, while Year 13 took part in growth mindset and student finance sessions delivered by the University of Hertfordshire, alongside guidance on choosing university courses from London Metropolitan University.

A huge thank you to all the employers, parents, providers and colleagues who contributed to the success of Futures & Ambition Day. Events like this demonstrate the power of collaboration in helping young people become informed, confident and future-ready.
