Students and staff enjoy the football tour to Madrid.
During half term, 41 students embarked on the first Chingford football tour through Inspire Sport to Real Madrid.
When students landed they were taken straight to the Warner Bros theme park where they enjoyed their first afternoon in Madrid. Mr Hockley and Mr Collier were extremely impressed with the “Stuntfall” ride that featured a forward loop-the-loop and then a backwards loop-the-loop. This started the week of filling the students with excitement!
Students had 4 sessions throughout the five days being coached by Real Madrid coaches at the world famous Valdebebas training ground. Students had access to their own changing facilities as well as a team physiotherapist. The coaches put them through their paces focussing on team based games rather than individual drills which the students loved.
On the Wednesday, students looked to improve their knowledge of the Spanish language and culture through a tour of Madrid City; looking and taking selfies with sites such as the Real Palacio (Royal Palace) and they were also able to see the preparations for the Champions League Final. Students were also able to tour the Bernabeu , gaining access to their history through previous kits, boots and balls to all of the many trophies won over the years. They were able to gain access to the changing rooms, dug outs as well as the media room.
During the evenings students participated in a range of activities from football matches against other local teams to bowling. This allowed students to bring out their competitive spirits and expel some left over energy before bed!
All in all, it was a fantastic trip enjoyed by both students and staff alike. The only question remaining now is, where to next year?
